INVENTIONS AND UTILITY MODELS

We prepare and file applications for inventions and utility models both domestically and abroad. We prefer to work directly with our clients when preparing applications, but if necessary, we are also able to prepare applications based on technical documentation alone. At least two representatives with the relevant technical background are involved in the preparation of each application.

We send all documents related to the application to our clients together with a proposal for further action. We then work with the client to develop and refine this process, including any adjustments to the application.

Our firm monitors legal and official actions related to applications and protection documents throughout their duration using proprietary monitoring software, along with frequent direct inspection by the attorney handling the case. The client will generally receive notice of maintenance fees due one month in advance. Alternatively, we can agree with the client to provide a list of all documents to be maintained for the following year, both domestically and internationally, each time in late November or early December.

We conduct domestic and foreign searches for novelty of technical solutions, non-infringement of valid patents, state of the art and name searches, including final evaluations.

The firm provides representation in proceedings for determination, cancellation and expungement, both in defending the client’s rights and in challenging foreign protective documents. All filings in these proceedings are prepared by at least two of our firm’s patent attorneys, one of whom serves as opposing counsel.

Since 1991, the office has regularly dealt with all aspects of international applications under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). We instruct and examine international agents, analyse the results of international searches, file requests for international preliminary examination and then propose appropriate amendments to the application. Once the application is filed, we continue to work with clients on an ongoing basis, monitoring the validity of the patent and ensuring that maintenance fees are paid.

Through our partner offices, we provide access to the patent filing systems of Patent Cooperation Treaty member states. We draft and file European patent applications both directly and through the Euro PCT via our foreign partner offices. When a granted European patent breaks down into a bundle of national patents, the office ensures the validation of the European patent in the individual Member States.
